What is the Sea Org?

The Sea Organization (or simply Sea Org) is an association of Scientologists who have trained for the Church of Scientology's upper levels aboard a ship called the Freewinds. Considered "special forces" and staffing many of the Church of Scientology's large labor projects, these Scientologists worked in hazardous conditions and under unreasonable management stresses, including time spent in contact with asbestos and coerced abortions. Members are forced to sign a billion year contract upon joining.

The Church of Scientology's Sea Org is also responsible for policing the RPF, or Rehabilitation Project Force.

Billion Year Contract?!

Members of the Sea Org sign an employment contract with the organization for one billion years. Sea Org members, in accordance with Scientology beliefs, are expected to return to the Sea Org when they are reborn. The motto of the Sea Org is "Revenimus", latin for "We Come Back". Children as young as 12 are expected to sign this document.

Official statements from the Church of Scientology contend the contract is merely symbolic of the dedication members are expected to hold to the organization, and that members are free to leave if they wish. It has, however, been alleged by former Sea Org personnel that members are restricted from leaving. Members who do leave are issued a "freeloader's bill", retroactively billing them for any auditing or training they have received. Scientologists become staff members in the first place at the prospect of recieving for free the auditing and training sessions they are billed for upon leaving.

What is the Freewinds?

The MV Freewinds is a cruise ship owned and operated by the Church of Scientology and their front corporations. Built in Finland in 1968, she was sold to a Church of Scientology-controlled company in 1985. Aboard the Freewinds, Scientologists are able to take many courses ranging from a one-week course costing nearly $5,000 to the "New OT VIII" course, costing $10,000. While this ship normally sails year-round for Scientologists to take high level courses, she is currently dry-docked and sealed due to extensive contamination with blue asbestos, a highly carcinogenic insulator.

Countless Scientologists have been exposed to the blue asbestos aboard the Freewinds, yet the Church of Scientology continues to hide this fact from their membership.

What is the RPF?

The Rehabilitation Project Force, or RPF, is a system of labor camps set up by the Church of Scientology's Sea Organization, intended to "rehabilitate" members who have not lived up to the Church of Scientology's expectations, violated certain policies, or tried to leave Scientology and/or the Sea Org. Many former Sea Org members have reported grueling and torturous treatment. RPF survivors report a diet of beans and rice, strictly controlled sleep times, and restricted contact with other Scientologists. The process of an 'amends project' is a means of controlling the Scientologist through hard labor and the need to earn the approval of a group before being freed.

Where can I sign up?!

At your local Scientology org! All you have to do is leave your friends, family, career, and life behind, then dedicate yourself and your money to the all-consuming cause of converting the rest of the galaxy to Scientology!

If you enjoy being locked in a confined space for weeks with little food while receiving treatment comparable to that of an indentured servant and denied your personal freedom, then this is the type of legalized slavery for you!

Sea Org members, despite their exalted status, are asked to do more for less. They work in pitiful conditions making $50 per week for 12 to 20 hour work days.
