Time/Location
For General Anons:
Same deal really, with a bit of difference.
- Meet up at Flinders St Station 1:00-1:30 Gather strength, march up Swanston Street towards Collins St.
- Along the way, stop at Collins St Town Square for 30 minutes and hand out fliers.
- 2:30pm, arrive at Co$, stick around for 30 minutes. Not enough people, just symbolic really.
- 3pm, March to Bourke St Mall via Collins St & Swanston St (more people will see you this way.)
- Hang around for an hour or two, then disperse for beverages.
For Anons that will be helping me with the tent:
- 8am, Arrive at Bourke St Mall, and setup, hopefully we'll be up by about 10am.
- 10-15 required, I have maybe 5 already, PM me in IRC if you are serious about shit.
- Tent to disperse around the same time as the general mob.
Remember guys, I know you are in it for fun which is cool, we are giving the numbers and the strength to those who are voiceless and want to be heard. Again, plenty of water, and since we'll be in a more populated place this time, please remember we MUST NOT block traffic! Give people the right of way, just make sure they don't get past without having been offered over 9000 pamphlets!

Discussion
- Photocopying: A cheap way to print out stuff is to print out one good quality copy and mass photocopy it. There is a place I know on the second floor of the Union Building at Monash University Clayton (Building 10) called the John Medley Library that does 10c A3 printing (or 5c A4 for the cheap). Coin-operated, no minimums. Does anyone know any cheaper (I know Officeworks does 4c, but that's for 6001+ - and it's A4)?
Should we change the march route to CoS to get us more exposure than the backroute we're taking? - exanon
Proposed route:
Amended suggested route (do the pic if you want.)
-Meet up at Flinders Street Station. -First stop, Collins St. Town Square, stop for a 15-20 minute period and flyer the shit out of it. -Next, go up Collins st to Co$ chill there for 30 minutes or so, a speech is suggested there. -After Co$, head back down Collins st, turn right going past Town Hall and chill at the big chessboard for a bit. Fliers too. -From there, it's a short jaunt to Bourke St Mall where the rest of the day is spent chilling (a mass rickroll would be fun(learn the words)) and fliering Bourke St Mall.
- Melbourne Central / State Library is a maybe at this stage - we might just break up as suggested at Bourke St. Mall. Map is otherwise correct - exanon
Red is the route from Flinders to CoS. Green is the protest march from CoS to Bourke St. Mall via City Square. Aqua / Blue are somewhat busy escape routes to use if you need to leave (no drinks, that is) that can provide good opportunities to flyer it up (the Spencer St. (Southern Cross) Station route is not busy, but the station itself would be a good point to flyer).
Protest March
It is of my opinion that we need to be seen by MORE people. What we've been doing has been good, don't get me wrong, but I suggest an additional leg to the tour. Sure, it's fun to mess with the Co$ itself, but it's in a mostly secluded part of the city. For April 12th, I recommend the route, Flinders St Station -> Co$ -> Bourke St Mall.
It's such a rich area of people, ESPECIALLY on weekends and warm ones at that. As long as we stay out of the way of trams and leave enough room for traffic, I'm sure people (read: police) wouldn't worry too much. -anothermudkipz
- This is a good idea, but I think it would be better to march through the city and then go to Co$. That way, people who are interested in joining us maybe follow us to the church, rather than missing out on the action.
- Agree with above, also we need some sort of 2 person banner or something, the flag was all good but it hung down half the time. - asdfghjkl
Event Ideas
- I've yet to read up much on Operation Reconnect, however, if it is what I think it is, there is plenty of things that we could do to get the feeling of 'one side connecting to their shattered families' on the other, perhaps a small group of people pantomiming or something.
-anothermudkipz
- I'd like to see an anon with a megaphone talking to the scientologists inside the building. Starting with a listing of their numerous crimes, leading into something like 'You will not be alone in leaving scientology, there are others. They have managed to reintegrate with their families, and build themselves lives outside of scientology. You are not trapped. You are free.'. If it's loud enough for them to hear it will be pretty tough to ignore. (I'm writing a speech for this purpose now -Neoli)
- We need to make sure the scientologists know we don't mean to harm them, only the organisation - from the propoganda videos the scientologists have released it sounds like they're trying to say we're out to harm the members of the cult. We aren't. Bomb threats, suspicious white powders, harrassing phonecalls (nothing to prove that we did it, or that they didn't do it other than their word of course) - it all paints a very sinister picture of what they probably see as a group of psychotic internet cultists. Yeah, we're apparently a church now too, according to some news report. Anyway, if the members are scared of us they won't listen to us. If we seem okay then they might. If we can tell them the truth, and tell them we don't meant to harm them, only to free them, then we will come across as less psychotic internet terrorists and more logical reasonable free thinking individuals that actually give a damn.
- In regards to the point above this one. I'm writing a speech that I'll deliver on the 12th, in this I'll be categorically denying that any such threatening actions are not the way of Anon. Anthrax, Bomb Threats, etc, are far beneath us. I will also be bringing up the comparison of their Anonymous-Terrorist video thing. Yeah, coz ripping something from Youtube INCREASES IT'S QUALITY, I shall state for anyone's record that cares to be taking record that we as a whole believe that it was Scientology who perpetrated these falsehoods, as they have done very similar things in the past. I'll also be talking about disconnection and how April 12, Operation Reconnect, is a worldwide effort to reunite families and to show people that are within the organisation who feel that they're trapped that they have a way out, and they will be supported. -anothermudkipz
More suggestions from IRC talkans include:
- Setting up a tent or some such moderately secluded area in for family members & friends who have been disconnected and those who are disconnected themselves to have a video shot by us and posted on the YouTube or other such sites. Because Anonymous will be posting the video on behalf of the disconnected persons, we will issue a card with a random number on it (ie. "5C1F4G") that way if the persons who were recorded wish to have their video removed by us or update details, they can do so by sending us a message along with that number.
OKAY GUYS SRS PETITION BUSINESS
A petition signing area will be allocated on the street side for all Anon's and public to sign the petition to remove Scientology's tax Exempt status which should be on anonymous.org.au, however difficulties have interrupted that plan. The petition area will simply be a table with a XENU, the Green inflatable Alien with the table. For a copy of the petition please email anonmelbpetition@gmail.com. Please also specify if you want the petition in DOC or DOCX format. If anyone wants any changes applied to the petition please feel free to reply back prior the 12th, 10 a.m. Finally, anyone who wants to help out is free to do so. Printing out signature pages would also be a big help - Stay around after the 12th hopefully we can get this petition circulated around the streets :)
Operation Media Blitz
- Poster spam the Info Posts around the city (y'know those poles with all the posters)
- For a week prior to the event have anons poster spam trains just prior to peak hour to get the maximum impact. Most flyers will only last until after peak as the trains will be cleaned. This needs to start on the week beginning March 31st. Get them on as many trains as you can, and remember to cover up, cameras on every one of those new fandangled trains fellow anons!
> actually they're on about 99% of trains, even some of the old ones they've brought out of retirement. ~asdfghjkl
- Roger that, an email address that we can web proxy access needs to be set up, I want this email address displayed on the posters we put on the trains for those who are serious about wanting to contact their families or whatnot, or even for the disconnected people to contact. THIS NEEDS TO START NEXT WEEK IF POSSIBLE.
- Also particularly importantly get the Reconnection posters up around the Church, AND MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE that they stay up. Walk past with posters EVERY DAY, their leaders will surely want to supress Operation Reconnection, potentially giving hundreds a link with their former lives and a way out of the church. This is particularly important.
- I know that we're changing focus to Disconnection, but I thought I'd add this YTMND as it's a very very easily digestible primer on why we protest Scientology (criminal acts): http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/. I would say this is useful for the spam / viral cards/leaflets we'll distribute.
