Main article on flags construction: Operation: Clandestine Sweatshop

Anonymous flags implant the message that these are global protests by showing consistency (and dare I say intelligence?) between all protests. The logo itself resembles that of the United Nations logo and represents us as a global cause.

A Melbourne Anon offers to deliver, by operating a one-man sweatshop for people who want flags. You are not obliged to obtain flags from us. Feel free to make your own or get it somewhere else. We're here to make it accessible for anyone who wants them.

Design / Construction

Main article: Operation: Clandestine Sweatshop

The final dimensions of the flag will be roughly 1350mm in length and 800mm in height. This is slightly smaller than the standard 1500mm x 900mm. Reasons for slightly smaller size, are the expense and difficulties of making larger flag due to the restrictive sizes of materials available for construction. For the extra 100mm in height to become standard size, the costs will be about 50% extra, plus extra chance of fail, because it's a bit harder to make.

Mounting Instructions:

You will need to supply your own flag poles to mount your flag onto.
Try the hardware store for:

  • Broomstick handles (can be a little short as the flag takes up 0.8m of it)
  • Paint roller extension poles (typically 1.2m in compact form and extends to 2.4m or more)

Any pole that is less than 3.0 - 3.5cm thick, should fit in the pole sleeve. Make sure it's not too thick like the proper flagpoles, because I assumed that everyone will use a broomstick handle or something else of a similar thickness. You should notify us, if a thicker sleeve is required for your thicker pole.

Please check your local laws if you are allowed to have flags in public and allowed to use flag poles. DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO USE THE FLAG POLE AS A WEAPON. If possible, only have reliable people to handle the flag. The flag is the symbol of our united cause and should not be allowed to be tarnished.

Optional equipment:

  • Flag bearer holsters

These can be purchased from a military surplus stores like Aussie Disposals, or Mitchells. It may help a lot if you intend to hold it up for a long time, plus it's got an "ceremonial" feel to it. Make sure that you have a substantially long flag pole for it (at least 2 metres).
