Anonymous is not a true organised group, it is anyone who feels compelled to act now. The Anonymous of last week may be different to those of today. Being Anonymous is a personal decision, not an exclusive club. We do not necessarily agree with each other, we might not have precisely the same motivation - but we have recognised a dark menace lurking openly, 'hiding in the light' so to speak, and we are united by our will to expose it so that the wider society will administer justice.
We support freedom of information, freedom of religion and freedom of belief. What we oppose are actions which cause harm. The ideology of the so-called Church of Scientology has caused immense suffering to current and former Scientologists, as well as critics of Scientology. Scientology has actively sought to dominate and alter government, legal, and social institutions, for example by infiltrating the US Government and offices of federal attorneys in "Operation Snow White," and insidiously overrunning the city of Clearwater, Florida.
Since our common goal is to effect change by making people aware of the nature of Scientology, we have agreed that our method of operation will always be a non-violent, legal, leaderless resistance, against the powerful, totalitarian and criminal Church of Scientology. Anyone who commits an act that violates our agreed method is NOT one of us, as they are only helping the Church of Scientology.
We are the exact opposite of the organisation calling itself the Church of Scientology. We are open, our policies are the result of negotiation and consensus, we have no supreme leader - each of us is an autonomous, intelligent person who has independently decided that we cannot tolerate the CoS. We respect the law and we love our society. We do not charge for admission. We are the voice of the downtrodden. We encourage others to do their own research and make up their own minds.
The very nature of Scientology opposes us - fiercely secretive, suppressing non-conformity and independent thought, with a single authoritarian leader. The CoS has repeatedly proven it has little respect for the laws of the societies in which it operates. It seeks to dominate and indoctrinate the general population, which it regards as fundamentally flawed and a potential threat to their own survival. The CoS bullies its own followers to give up their money and their voices. In fact, the 'voice' of the CoS is that of L. Ron Hubbard - a dead, tyrannical hypocrite whose arrogance was only surpassed by his immorality. He continues to speak through the teachings and policies which Scientologists must obey to the letter.
If the countless deaths, criminal acts and broken families are not enough to show that this ideology is opposed to free society, read Hubbard's own words -
“I once had the idea that a group could evolve truth. A third of a century has thoroughly disabused me of that idea. Willing as I was to accept suggestions and data, only a handful of suggestions (less than twenty) had long-run value and none were major or basic; and when I did accept major or basic suggestions and used them, we went astray and I repented and eventually had to “eat crow."…
…So I know what a group of people will do and how insane they will go in accepting unworkable “technology."…
…As we could have gotten along without suggestions, then, we had better steel ourselves to continue to do so now that we have made it. This point will, of course, be attacked as “unpopular," “egotistical" and “undemocratic." It very well may be. But it is also a survival point. And I don’t see that popular measures, self-abnegation and democracy have done anything for Man but push him further into the mud. Currently, popularity endorses degraded novels, self-abnegation has filled the Southeast Asian jungles with stone idols and corpses, and democracy has given us inflation and income tax."
